It is over. I am not even sure exactly when it started. But I would say about three years ago a friend of mine, Clyde, and I decided to watch The X-Files from season one to nine - start to finish - every episode. Well, we fast-forwarded through the horrible episode, "Chinga" in season five, which was written by Stephen King. I grew up devouring King's novels and still pick up anything the man writes, but this episode was a real disappointment.
But aside from that episode, Clyde and I did finally complete our goal to watch The X-Files television series - 202 episodes (well, 201 and a half). Albeit it took a little longer than we anticipated. But I must say it was an enjoyable experience; in fact, so enjoyable that we have now decided to watch the three seasons (67 episodes) of another Chris Carter creation, Millennium. I have watched the Millennium series a few times. The first time primarly by myself and then with different friends. It is interesting to see how other people react to a show you really enjoy.
I never saw all of The X Files episodes when it originally aired. Actually, I did not know the show that well, but always loved it when I stumbled upon it as I channel surfed. There is something to be said about viewing a show when it first airs. I think, however, I am ultimately a DVD viewer. There are no commercials and you can watch one episode after another which sometimes helps a lot with continuity (especially with my memory).
So I say goodbye to Dana Scully and Fox Mulder (and John Doggett and Monica Reyes) for awhile and welcome back Frank Black. And to think I used to complain about summer reruns!

You neglected to mention that we also skipped the episode '3' from season 2, although it wasn't much better than 'Chinga'
